About Jolt

  1. Jolt is a full-service independent distributor built for the filmmaker with an audience-focused bold vision for their films. We manage theatrical, digital, premium TVOD, impact, awards, aggregator services, and brand partnerships all powered by audience intelligence, and powered by one organization.

  2. Jolt films are released on specific dates and are available for a limited time, with the availability window clearly listed on each film's landing page. If a film hasn't been released yet but is featured on our homepage, you can pre-order it to ensure you're ready to watch as soon as it's available. Purchasing a ticket to a Jolt film is similar to renting a film on other platforms. You can begin watching anytime within the film's designated availability window. Once you start a film, you'll have 50 hours to watch it.

  3. While we do not accept open submissions, we are always happy to learn about films that may be a fit for Jolt. Please feel free to submit your film through our filmmaker page contact form. Thanks for your interest!

  4. The mission of Jolt focuses on promoting a select number of highly curated films. We feel that this focus is the best approach to garner the largest audience possible for these films. As we tailor our model, we will take on more films.

  5. Jolt is an independent brand conceived by the same team that founded Impact Partners, a champion of independent film. To learn more about their work, you can visit their website at impactpartnersfilm.com.

Watching the Films

  1. The screening time for your film can be found on your order confirmation email or by navigating to the film page on Jolt.film. Online screening windows are not set screening times. However, you have 50 hours to watch your film once you have started it.

  2. To watch your film, log in to your account on our website and navigate to the film details page or your My Orders page. You can also download and log in to our TV App or Mobile App (visit the How to Watch page for instructions). Click on the "Start Watching" button, and a new window overlay will open with the film playing. Ensure your device is connected to the internet with a strong connection. Please note that you have 50 hours to watch your film once you have started it.

  3. During your 72 hours watch window, you can watch the film as many times as you'd like. If you'd like to watch the film again after 72 hours have passed, you'll need to purchase the film again to regain access.

  4. After successfully completing a purchase, the screening details would be shared with you in a confirmation email. At the time and date of the screening, show the digital ticket found in your email or on your My Orders page to gain admission to the event.

  5. At this time, we offer our apps on Google TV, Apple TV, Roku TV and Android TV. More information about our TV apps is available on the How to Watch page. If you have a Chromecast or Airplay enabled television, you can cast the movie as well. Outside of these apps, you may watch through the web on desktop and mobile. Please note that you must first purchase the film online in order to watch it on your TV.

  6. If you're experiencing issues playing your film, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take:
    • Do a hard refresh on your browser (CMND + SHFT + R). Pause playback for 1 minute and then resume.
    • Use another approved browser. The list of approved browsers include Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari for MacOS, and Microsoft Edge for Windows. Ensure the browser is up-to-date and your internet connection is strong you may check through this tool: https://www.speedtest.net/. Additional instructions can be found on the How to Watch page.
    • Update the playback quality. You can update this through the Change Video Quality instructions. Try "Auto" "720p" or another option. You may do this by clicking the hexagon icon in the bottom right of the player.

If the above steps do not work, try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser. If the problem persists, please contact our customer support team, support@joltspace.com, and we can assist you in resolving the issue.

  7. Unfortunately, if you didn't finish the film in the 50 hours permitted with your purchase, the only ability to regain access is through another purchase. If you have special circumstances, please reach out to customer support at support@joltspace.com.

If the film's availability window has lapsed before you watch, it is not possible to watch it. These films are only available for a specific duration, and we recommend checking out future Jolt films that may interest you.

  8. Some Jolt film releases are limited to certain regions in accordance with the filmmakers wishes. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to override their authority and show it in your country. We hope that films supported on Jolt are able to make it to audiences globally, so please let us know where you're watching from so that we can pass it onto the film team.

SCREENING WITH JOLT

  1. Films are protected under copyright law. A screening license gives you the legal right to show a film in public spaces and ensures filmmakers are fairly compensated.

License fees also cover the resources and materials we provide to help you host a successful event (examples of non-theatrical screenings include community events, school programs, film clubs, or conferences).

  2. A screening license is required for any public showing of a Jolt film — whether at a theater, school, church, business, or community venue. Personal rentals through the Jolt website are for private viewing only and can't be shown to groups or in public spaces.

Purchasing a Community Screening License allows you to legally host an event that's free, donation-based, or ticketed.

  3. Visit our Host a Screening page, choose your film, and click "Buy Screening." You'll complete a short application, select your screening type (virtual or in-person), and finalize payment.

Once confirmed, you'll either receive the film directly or our team will reach out to coordinate the delivery, event setup, or terms; depending on the film's format and your screening type.

  4. We recommend starting your planning at least 2 weeks in advance to allow time for approval, delivery of materials, and promotion.

For larger or partnered events, reach out even earlier so we can better support your setup. While we can accommodate quick turnarounds, some formats — such as physical DCP requests — require a minimum of two weeks' lead time.

  5. For in-person screenings at venues such as schools, libraries, public halls there are multiple ways you can screen the film.
    • Stream from your computer with an HDMI cord or linked to a projector.
    • Stream from your computer using apple airplay.
    • Watch via our TV apps on Apple TV, Roku, or Android

For screenings in theaters, we can provide a digital or physical DCP upon request.

  6. Yes. Each license covers one public screening event (virtual or in-person). If you'd like to host multiple showings or ongoing programs, signify on the form and we can discuss a multi-screening or educational discount.

  7. Yes. We provide preview links for qualified organizations upon request. To request access, email screenings@joltspace.com with your organization name and intended use.

  8. Each screening includes:
    • Film access (streaming link or downloadable file)
    • A one-time public performance license
    • Promotional assets (social graphics, posters, copy)
    • Discussion materials (where applicable)
    • Support from the Jolt.film team to ensure a smooth experience

  9. Yes. Hosts and organizations are welcome to sell tickets or accept donations upon request in the screening form, provided the screening is completed with a revenue share agreement.

For ticketed events, Jolt and the filmmakers receive a small percentage of gross ticket sales, based on a sliding scale that reflects your event's size, purpose, and location.

This ensures fair compensation for the film's creators while supporting your event goals. You'll confirm these details during your application, and we'll provide the final profit-sharing terms before your screening is approved.

  10. Yes. You'll need to create a JOLT account to purchase your screening license. If the event organizer is different from the person who needs film access for the event, you can indicate the correct screening contact on the screening form.

  11. If your organization was provided a promo code, you can enter it during the checkout process to apply your discount. You'll see a field to enter the code before completing your payment.

  12. For media inquiries, press access, or interview requests, reach out to media@joltspace.com. We're happy to provide screeners and coordinate with filmmakers when possible.

  13. If your question is not answered above, please send an email to support@joltspace.com.
